I've found my furever family!

Steve

We're happy to tell you that Steve has a new furever home.

I'm Steve a 1 year old pug mix.  I am looking for a home that has maybe one or two friendly dogs that can help me feel more safe.  I will need some time to get to know you and should be kept leashed at all times until I've had time to learn about you and your family and know that that is where all the love is.  I do love kitty cats and would not mind having one as a friend!  I know how to use a doggie door to go outside.

Steve has become much more comfortable in his foster home.  Under the scared little shell is a wonderful little dog just wanting to be loved.  He is a bit leery of men but has made wonderful progress with my husband.  He gets very excited for walkies and walks very nicely on a leash. Come bedtime he settles down and is very quiet and sleeps next to me all night long.  He does appreciate being warm and snuggly after sleeping outside for so long and will often burrow under the covers.  He is very afraid of strangers, especially men.  Women are much less scary to him but he will still bark at anyone he doesn't know.  He knows his name very well now and we're working on some tricks!  He loves to play with his toys and chew on a nylabone.  He loves to play chase with the other doggies.

Steve is going to need time to feel safe with his new owner.  He wants to sit next to me all the time and, with true pug determination, wants to follow me to the bathroom and everywhere else.   Steve now has decided that he must be near me at all times and is an excellent companion and such a cuddle bug!  Once he gets to know you, you will have his unwavering love and dedication.

Steve has also shown to be an excellent watch dog.  For such a little guy he really is able to project his bark and sounds much, much larger!  He likes to go on rides in the car and got the award for best behaved on a recent road trip!

Steve is definitely a work in progress.  I think his perfect home would be a calm, no kids household with a single older lady who needs a funny little companion who would be happy to go on quiet adventures or just sit and relax.
