Easygoing Frenchie alert!
TEMPERAMENT/BEHAVIOR:
*I hope you don't have anywhere to be because I want to be in your lap all day, every day.
*Sweetest and cuddliest dog ever! I am mellow and totally keep my cool even when the dogs around me get pushy or feisty.
*I answer to the name "Kira."
*I was dumped in Vegas, so we don't know my background, but it's clear I spent most of my time in a crate. I'm learning how to be a house dog, and with the help of my pug foster brother, I'm learning the routines and getting used to the good life.
*I am absolutely stubborn, and unless I'm on board with an idea, it's not happening. (That dog lying down halfway through a walk - that's me.) Hope your persuasive skills, treat stash, and carrying muscles are on point!
*I LOVE people! I approach everyone I see, and I want pets from everybody! I'm good with all family members, but I will jump up with my front paws to get attention. Small children could be bowled over by my love.
*I walk nicely on a leash, but I do criss-cross in front of you. It's a work in progress.
*I'm an angel in the car. I sit quietly then lie down and nap until we get to our destination. I also like it when the window is down enough for me to smell the fresh air. I will make the sweetest face at the drive thru so I can get those Pup Cups.
*I don't really understand commands yet - or maybe I just don't feel like following them...I am a Frenchie after all!
*I have been through a lot of change and at this point would prefer someone who is home most of the time and won't have to leave me often.
LOVES:
*Cuddling on your lap or chest. Seriously, I want to be on top of you - all the time.
*Getting pets and rubs from everyone.
*Fuzzy blankets, cozy dog beds, comfy couches, and a spot in your bed (or your kid's bed).
*Sunbathing. Summer's coming and I want to soak up the rays.
*Rolling in the grass. I missed out on so much during my crate life, and I intend to live it up now!
*Small, stuffed toys. (Your dirty socks count, but don't worry, I just carry them around.)
SIZE:
*I am Frenchie-sized but I have a loooong torso.
*I was really skinny when I came in, but I'm enjoying all the good grub around here. The vet says I'm just right at my new weight of 27.5 pounds.
HOUSETRAINING:
I am making great progress. I know what "potty" means and I'll join you at the door when you call it out - unless I'm too cozy to move. When I have to go I won't bark or make a sound, but I will go to the door and look at you silently. We just started training with a bell on the door, so wish me luck with that. I also visited a friend with a dog door and learned quickly, so that could be another option.
**I do still have accidents, and I have some waste-related behaviors - likely a result of my previous cage life. My forever family will need to be patient and consistent with this, please.
OTHER ANIMALS:
*I am mellow and submissive with all the small dogs I've met.
*I haven't hung out with any big dogs, cats, or other animals yet.
*I'm very interested in the birds and bunnies around the yard. I follow them into the bushes, but they always get away.
*My focus is 100% people. I will occasionally lie down next to my pug foster brother, but mostly I want human love.
*I would probably be fine as an only dog, but I would do best with a calm adult dog sibling. This would help me learn the ropes and keep me company when you're not home.
HEALTH:
*I've been fighting an infection and we just found out that it's an antibiotic-resistant bacteria. My new medicine should have me feeling better soon.
*Frenchie allergies! I got a Cytopoint shot and it helped tremendously, but we'll need to stay on top of this with diet and potentially medication.
*Skin and tail pocket maintenance will be needed. My foster family will teach you our short routine.
*I have a scar and large lump on my lower lip - maybe I was attacked in the past? It doesn't bother me and it gives me that pouty look that ladies pay so much for.
HOME ALONE:
*When I first got to my foster home, I cried loudly if they left my sight. That lasted for 5 days, so my new family should be ready for a potentially loud, whiny transition. (If you have close neighbors, they will not appreciate this.) Best case scenario is you clear your calendar and stick by my side while I get settled.
*Now when I'm left home alone, my family watches me on the dog cam and I just nap on the couch with my pug foster brother. I'm not sure how I'd act if I was left totally alone without a calm companion.
*I learned a bad habit from my pug foster brother: when I hear you pull into the garage, I cry at the door until you walk inside.
*I spent a lot of time in a crate in my past, but when I'm put in my crate now, I cry and yelp loudly.
So, now you know all about me.
Are you ready cuddle all day, every day?
